program note: A symphonic work built on the dialectic of its title: the micro and the macro, the smallest sonic detail and the largest orchestral mass. Tiny, deliberately un-classical sounds, like stylophone, General MIDI, the electronic blips of old-fashioned games, are set cheek by jowl with magnified orchestral structures, the trivial and the monumental sharing the same frame. The piece treats scale itself as the central compositional parameter, zooming in and out of the orchestral body so that the listener's sense of proportion is continually reframed: a toy timbre swells into a symphonic event, a vast tutti contracts to a single pixel of sound.
