program note: The bracketed, fragmented title spells out ROTTERDAM, the city that set my multimedia path, and to which the piece pays tribute. Electric guitar and clarinet are embedded in a fixed audio-video texture built entirely from recordings of the musicians themselves: their sounds and gestures captured, processed and returned as image and tape. The interruptions and insertions written into the title shape a music of fracture and re-entry, live instruments and recorded media interlocking as equal layers.
