​program note: What hides behind an object found in a second-hand shop? A music box, picked up among forgotten things, carries a small abandoned melody, a tune once wound and listened to by someone, now almost erased. The piece asks how that fragile, half-remembered fragment can be turned into music: the saxophone quartet and extended drum kit gather around the little mechanism, amplifying and mechanising its tiny song until it grows into something far larger than its origin.
